I just finished addressing Kader's birthday invitations . . . . .
I can't believe that in just a few short weeks we will be celebrating the 1 year anniversary of Kader's birth! I really cannot believe that it's been a whole year since his physical arrival into our lives. He's been a part of our lives for almost double that! It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing our sweet miracle home, yet it seems like ages ago when we were up at all hours with him feeding and tending to his needs. Parenthood has been the most amazing and rewarding experience of our lives. Kirk and I sometimes just stare at Kader in awe of the feelings that just looking at him evoke. He is a product of us, our love and devotion to eachother. We want the world for him and will do everything in our power to make sure we give him the the tools he needs to succeed and be happy in life.
Aside from all that mushy reflection, Kader is doing great! Seems like he's getting bigger and bigger by the day! We estimate that he's over 19lbs now. He's well child check is scheduled for the the second Friday in March. Kader has officially said "Momma." He said it for the first time at Tori's house (neither Kirk or I were there) and was sweet enough to say it that night before I put him to bed. I think he knows what it means. He will say it when I leave the room and he crawls after me. Coincidence or not? Kader is quite the love bug on his terms. He will give kisses occasionally when prompted but seems to like it more when it's his idea. He opens his mouth wide and comes in for the kiss. . .it's so cute. He continues to share his paci with me at night before bed after he's eaten and his aim is dead on now! He is comfy after eating but doesn't usually go to sleep and will lay in my arms and "flirt" with me. He also likes to put his fingers in my mouth so I can nibble on them and he takes them away and giggles (it is the sweetest sound ever). He also loves to play with my face and poke his fingers at my eyelashes. I love our time at night together. He is still breastfeeding and we are down to two/three feedings a day depending on my work schedule. By the time he's one I'd like to be done weaning him or down to just a bedtime feeding. Over the past couple of weeks he's usually wide awake when he goes down but is able to put himself to sleep. I thank God everyday for such a great baby. He continues to master the art of cruising. He is profiecient at pushing his toys around, he walks sideways and forward. He's started standing for longer periods of time all by himself and has even taken a few steps by himself. He's still very unsure on his feet and hasn't developed the confidence yet to really be interested in walking. I wonder when he'll start walking? I'm in no rush for my sweet baby to start walking, because that means that he'll be a toddler then-right?! Kader loves to play with his toys, look at books (he will sit still and listen to you read a few books . .it's amazing that he will sit still to look at the books--he stays so busy all the time), play chase (he loves to crawl away and you crawl behind him and "catch him," among many other things! The boy still loves to eat! He's eating a good variety of foods now and loves to feed himself (bannanas, cherrios, cheese, peaches/pears, etc). He is becoming more and more independent each day. He makes his likes and dislikes very clear and will use his voice/scream if he needs to get your attention--good or bad!
