This will likely be my last post before Kader is born! How exciting! We had our last OB visit today. They did a NST (non stress test) to check for contractions and Kader's activity level/heart rate in conjunction with an ultrasound to check for the amniotic fluid levels--both looked good. They rechecked my cervix and there was really no notable changes there. Kader's head has dropped down a little bit more, which is a plus. So at this point the plan is for the hospital to call us tomorrow sometime after 6ish and give us a time to come in. Depending on their census we could go right at 6 or it could be midnight. In rare instances they are too busy and you just have to wait until the following morning to come in. I am hoping that this won't be the case because then they will put us on the "fast track" for induction. So instead of "ripening" the cervix overnight, they will ripen the cervix, start the pitocin and break the bag of water all at the same time on Wednesday morning. The OB said that sometimes the ripening of the cervix will induce labor in itself so that limited use of other interventions is needed. So we are down to the wire! Kader will be here so soon. I don't think the reality of that has hit me yet. Kirk was visibly "moved" this afternoon after we finished talking with the OB about induction and checking into the hospital. He said that is all so real now-that in less than 2 days we will have Kader here with us. We both cannot wait to meet him.
Please pray for a good induction with as minimal intervention as possible. (Please pray that there will be no need for a c-section as this is sometimes a risk with inductions) Pray that Kader and I both tolerate the labor/delivery and that Kader is healthy. Also say a little pray for Kirk as I know he is worried about me being in pain and having no control over helping to take it away.
We love you all and cannot wait to start another chapter in our lives as a family of three. I look forward to introducing Kader to each and every one of you.
Love,
Kirk, Tiffany and Kader
